Our Pirate Party on Saturday 18th October went very well. There were some great pirates who turned up - including a young lad to his first ever party. Debbie Harter sang us songs to accompany her new book PORT SIDE PIRATES and a fun time was had by all!

Local Penzance poet John Gordon came to hold a signing of his new collection of verse "VIOLETS UNFOLD IN MY THROAT" at BOOKS PLUS on Saturday 13th September between 10am and noon. His book - which recently won the prestigious Holyer An Gof award for adult poetry - intertwines ancient mythical and contemporary imagery to express a wide range of passionate and fantastical themes.

The Independent Booksellers' Week in July was a great success. Many schools and customers took part in the Booklovers Competition organised by books plus , who held a draw of all the successful entries.

Books Plus events planned from 1st to 8th July 2008 to coincide with Independent Booksellers' Week.
Events include competitions for adults and children to win books plus prizes and the chance to receive £100 of National Book Tokens. Parallel events are also being held in local schools. June 2008 -
books plus were the official sponsors of Golowan Festival 2008 "Tongue Pie", featuring new stories from Cornish writers. The event was held at the Acorn Theatre, Penzance on Sunday, 22nd June 2008. Thank you to everyone for supporting local talent and making it such a wonderful evening.
